Shuugo (シューゴ)
The twin swordsman has the same design as Kite. He is defeated by a LVL.40 field monster and is revived by a young girl in white by the name of Aura appears before him to bestow Shuugo the power of Kite's bracelet to save 'The World' once again. 
Shuugo Kunisaki (国崎秀悟)14-year-old, first year junior high school student, he's the older brother of the twins, Rena. In comparison to his sister, he's reckless and likes to boast, but he's courageous when he needs to be. Shuugo isn't all too inteligent the fact that, even prior to starting the game, he's unable to equip his weapon. |
Rena (レナ)
Rena has the same design as the legendary ".hackers" BlackRose. In 'The World' she is an experienced player and because of an online election she was able to obtain BlackRose's character design she yearned for. 
Rena Kunisaki (国崎れな)The younger sister of the twins is an honor student who is proud of being one of the highest grade students in her grade. She has a strong spirit, and very glamourous. Her personality resembles much like the founder of BlackRose. |
Mireille (ミレイユ)
She who calls herself 'The Love and Courage Rare Item Hunter' has a distinct personality just like Mistral. She's very eccentric and is always on the lookout for a chance for rare items. |
Ouka (凰花)
Known as Ouka of the Divine Fist, she has a wolf form that can easily deceive many into thinking she is a mere dog. She enjoys battles and uses hand-to-hand combat. |
Hotaru (ほたる)
A timid girl who lives in America joins 'The World' to practice her Japanese. She looks after a Puchiguso, the previous owner abandoned due to its sickness, who follows Hotaru everywhere. |
Balmung (バルムンク)
A strong and high-leveled character who's part of 'The World''s administrative staff. He enjoys creating and planning in-game events for players to participate in. He's also known as "Balmung of the Azure Sky". |
Reki (レキ)
As Balmung's subordinate, Reki manages Balmung's events and gathers information. He's also an operator who supports the management of 'The World'. |
Sanjuro (砂嵐三十郎)
Sanjuro is passionate of the ways of the samurai and wields only katanas. He watches over and assists the group when necessary. |
Aura (アウラ)A mysterious girl in white who comes to Shuugo's aid, granting him both life and Kite's bracelet. |

.hack (pronounced as dot-hack) is Bandai's most major project yet. It consists of an anime TV series, comic, exclusive PS2 game and OVA done by a powerful team, composed of Kazunori Ito, Kouichi Mashimo and Yoshiyuki Sadamoto.
